Each year, humpback whales migrate to the Babuyan Marine Corridor in Northern Luzon, Philippines, where they are sighted between January and May to rest, breed, and care for their young. This highly biodiverse region is a critical habitat not only for humpback whales, but also for many other marine species.

Through BALYENA’s Adopt-A-Whale Program, you can virtually adopt a humpback whale that has been identified and monitored during our long-term research in the Babuyan Islands. Adoption is symbolic, but your contribution has a very real impact—it directly supports our whale research, conservation efforts, and education programs in the area.

When you adopt a whale, you will receive an Adoption Kit that includes:

  • An adoption certificate
  • A fluke photo of your adopted whale
  • Updates throughout the year about your whale
  • A whale art postcard and sticker
  • A humpback whale mini plushie

You may adopt on your own or share the adoption with family and friends as co-adopters. The program is also a meaningful and unique gift for loved ones. Adopters from previous years are welcome to renew their adoption.
