Education, Outreach and Training Officer
- Full-time: basic Php27,000; gross monthly salary = Php31,015
- One-year contract with renewal based on performance.
- Subject to mid-year and end-of-year performance evaluation.
- Work from home when not in the field.
- Requires travel and fieldwork on-site.
- Monthly payment upon submission of set deliverables on the last week of each month.

Job Description:
- Lead the planning and development of the Behavior Communication Change Plan, an educational program with the aim of increasing awareness of local biodiversity in the region and the ecological importance of maintaining this biodiversity and impart the significance of community involvement to motivate greater participation in conservation efforts, in coordination with the Project Manager and Field Coordinator.
- Lead the conduct of all educational outreach activities of the Project based on the Behavior Communication Change Plan.
- Design and analyze pre- and post-activity evaluation surveys for educational outreach activities and create reports detailing successes and failures of education/outreach/training programs.
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager and Field Coordinator to develop and conduct training with LGUs and other local groups/stakeholders.
- Lead the creation of learning materials such as presentation decks and pamphlets for public distribution, as well as lead the conduct of educational outreach activities.
- Assist and facilitate the design and production of other print materials such as posters, stickers and training packets for use in educational outreach and trainings.
- Responsible for preparing communication letters, activity plans, itinerary and associated travel documents for educational outreach activities and trainings. All subject to the approval of the Project Manager.
- Responsible for managing the Adopt-A-Whale Program by updating information and photos of adoptable whales and coordinating with the Social Media and Communications Officer in order to ensure “whale parents” or donors receive their adoption kit and bi-annual information in a timely manner.
- Prepare and produce BALYENA.ORG’s Annual Report with assistance from the Social Media and Communications Officer, under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Provide information/data to the Social Media and Communications Officer as needed.
- Assist in the conduct of the humpback whale survey when needed.
- Submit monthly reports of activities conducted and other work deliverable in accordance with the organization and project guidelines and templates.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Filipino. Fluent in Ilocano is an advantage.
- Teaching experience in primary and secondary levels is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is preferred.
- Ability to handle audiences from various backgrounds.
- Experience in designing an educational program.
- Experience in conducting training for local communities.

Field Coordinator

Job Description:
- Based on-site and organizes activities in the field, including relevant logistical requirements under the direction of the Project Manager and in coordination with the Research Officer and Education, Outreach, and Training Officer.
- Coordinate with local partners and collaborators regarding project activities and related
matters. - Disseminate project communications to stakeholders, partners and collaborators on-site.
- Responsible for following-up on Project communications and/or activities with the local
stakeholders and partners. - Assist the Project Manager, Research Officer and the Education, Outreach & Training
Officer in the conduct of activities on-site, in particular but not limited to the humpback
whale survey and educational outreach activities. - Assist in the conduct of other Project activities when needed.

Qualifications:
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Filipino. Fluent in Ilocano.
- Based in Camiguin Island, Calayan.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or environmental science or related field is preferred.
- At least one year experience working with coastal communities.
- At least one year experience in project coordination work.

Research Officer

Job Description:
- Responsible for the organization, collation, safe keeping of survey data and other research data collected by the Project.
- Coordinate, supervise and provide guidance to volunteers, partners and collaborators in implementing research activities.
- Assist in the conduct of the humpback whale research survey in the Babuyan Marine Corridor as the data recorder.
- Responsible for all data collection during the survey and ensures all data are collected in accordance with research protocols, with print, scanned and electronic data safely stored in the designated external drive and shared folder.
- Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of survey volunteer program of BALYENA.ORG which includes the volunteer application process, coordination and supervision on-site.
- Responsible for the Ecological Acoustic Recorder (EAR) deployment, retrieval and data analysis, under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Responsible for preparing communication letters, activity plans, itinerary and associated travel documents, supplies and equipment for surveys and other research activities. All subject to the approval of the Project Manager.
- Assist in the conduct of the educational outreach activities of the Project.
- Provide information/data to the Social Media and Communications Officer as needed.

Qualifications:
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Filipino. Fluent in Ilocano is an advantage.
- Field experience in conducting marine mammal surveys preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or environmental science preferred. Graduate degree in biological sciences is an advantage.
- At least two years’ experience in implementing scientific research projects.
- Experience in writing scientific reports and/or manuscripts. Having published is an advantage.
- Proficient in Excel and/or data processing software.
- Photographic skills and experience are an advantage.

Social Media And Communications Officer
- Part-time: two days a week with Full Circle Foundation & one day a week with USAID-INSPIRE

- May travel occasionally for meetings or specific activities.

Job Description:
- Responsible for maintaining the organization’s social media presence, creating regular informational posts to educate page audiences and to highlight activities done, and promoting volunteering opportunities. This also includes creating posts to promote fundraising merchandise.
- Develop and submit regular stories (at least three times per week) of interest during Project implementation for review and approval of the Science Director and/or Project Manager.
- Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns.
- Responsible for maintaining communications with project partners, collaborators and other stakeholders regarding project activities under the direction of the Project Manager. This includes monitoring and responding to emails/messages/inquiries.
- Responsible for developing other suitable communications materials for the Project, subject to the approval of the Project Manager.
- Assist in the design and production of BALYENA.ORG’s Annual Report, working with the Education, Outreach and Training Officer.
- Assist the Education, Outreach and Training Officer in the management of the Adopt-A- Whale Program by communicating and sending bi-annual updates to “whale parents” in a timely manner.

- Ability to translate data and information into materials for social media and other communication materials.
- Experience in maintaining social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram preferred.
- Experience in managing websites is an advantage.
- Ability to work from home with efficient internet connection.
