If you happen to find a LIVE whale or dolphin stranded or injured on the beach or shallow area or entangled on a net, you must send for help immediately.

Call the BFAR authorities or the nearest stranding network in your area.

If you find a DEAD whale or dolphin, however, try to secure the carcass or body of the animal, if possible transport to the nearest beach and away from the water. Please take note of the location of where you found it and call the nearest BFAR office or stranding network in your locality.

Any stranding (dead or alive) can be reported to Balyena.org on +63 (0)38 531 8604.

Stranding reports are important. Each report not only provides information on cetacean species occurrence around the country but also helps determine causes of mortality or illness to these animals.

To report PAST stranding events (dead or alive), please complete the online form below or download the forms here: for live stranding and for dead stranding; and email to us at info@balyena.org.ph. Photographs of stranded animals are crucial to the identification or confirmation of the species. Most rare species have been confirmed through stranding reports. Please do share your photographs or videos with us and we will help you confirm or identify the species. Thank you. Maraming salamat po.
